For the second year, EFCO was honored to participate in the Coolest Thing Made in Wisconsin contest, sponsored by the Wisconsin Manufacturers in Commerce and Johnson Bank. We partnered with Steve Slack and E.K. Machine out of Fall River, Wisconsin who designed and created the award, to provide the polishing on the trophy given to the winner.
The event was held at Madison’s Monona Terrace, and Terry Schultz was fortunate to attend the event, along with hundreds of other business leaders from around the state of Wisconsin. A “State of the State” address was given by WMC president Kurt Bauer, and Speaker of the House Paul Ryan and Wisconsin Lieutenant Governor Rebecca Kleefisch also addressed the crowd. In addition to the award ceremony, the lunch was held to honor Manufacturing Month in the state.
Many great companies and their products were part of the competition, and just short of 200,000 votes were cast in the competition. The four finalists included Generac, Mercury Marine, Ariens, and Oshkosh Truck, with Oshkosh winning the Coolest Thing award for their development of the JLTV, or Joint Light Tactical Vehicle, which is the latest innovation from the company, and will not only help our branches of the military, but other allies throughout the world.
Being at the event really brought to light all of the great things happening in Wisconsin, and the future looks even brighter. Manufacturing is no longer seen as a dirty job done in filthy conditions, but instead a career with many opportunities available across a wide range of areas. EFCO is proud to be a partner of many of the finalists, if not directly, on an indirect basis, providing our metal finishing services, such as vibratory finishing, grit blasting, polishing and more to their final products.
